Vanavil’s work with women from nomadic communities is changing lives—one enterprise at a time. In 2023–24, 62 women were actively running food stalls under 10 Self Help Groups (SHGs) formed and supported by Vanavil.

Many of these women were once forced to beg for survival. Today, they earn a daily income of ₹400 or more, manage savings accounts, and contribute to their households with pride. They’ve gone from being excluded and invisible to becoming businesswomen in their own right.

This transformation didn’t happen overnight. It involved months of training in hygiene, customer service, and food safety, along with peer support and mentoring. Some of the most successful members are now training others—a true example of empowered women empowering others.

Vanavil’s approach to livelihood is rooted in dignity and sustainability. By offering opportunities that are culturally appropriate, locally relevant, and financially viable, Vanavil is helping women reclaim their agency, one meal at a time.
