Our Summer Camp at Vanavil Home, which began on April 20, 2024, has been an enriching journey filled with creative workshops, traditional arts, and personal growth opportunities for students across all age groups.
Program Highlights
🧘 Yoga (April 29 – May 3)
Students learned various yoga postures and breathing techniques like Baalasanam, Vajrasanam, and Kapalabhati. Younger children practiced eye-relaxation techniques for improved focus and reduced strain.
🥋 Silambam (Traditional Martial Arts)
Older students participated in Silambam, learning self-defense and building discipline and physical strength.
💍 Ornament Making
With hands-on guidance, children created beautiful bracelets, anklets, and necklaces. Both boys and girls showed creativity and interest in this craft.
🎨 Marbling Art
Students used enamel paints to create vibrant book covers and wrappers, expressing themselves through color and design.
🥥 Coconut Shell Craft
In a 3-day session, students crafted stunning items from coconut shells—keychains, Buddha statues, tea cups, and more—learning about sustainability and reuse.
📸 Photography Workshop
Children explored various photography types like nature, street, documentary, and travel. A field trip to Venmani and Nagapattinam Port helped them apply skills in real settings, followed by a group discussion on how to improve their photography.
A Lasting Impact
The camp concluded with reflections and sharing sessions. The experience not only sparked creativity but also taught important values like teamwork, sustainability, and confidence.
